Finland Pavilion at COP31

At COP31, Finland brings climate solutions to the global stage. Tested in real life, backed by evidence, and ready to scale.

Why we're here

Cool by nature is who we are, how we work, and where we come from

Finland is a climate actor with impact beyond its size. Our pavilion is here to show how solutions built and tested in Finland can accelerate climate action worldwide.

Finnish climate action is built through close collaboration between research, business and the public sector. We do not wait for perfect conditions. We test, deploy and refine solutions in real life, moving ideas from pilots to implementation. If it works in Finland, it is built to work elsewhere.

Finland is progressing steadily toward carbon neutrality, with 96% of electricity production already fossil-free. Across sectors, forward-looking investments are steering the transition through energy, industrial innovation, clean technologies, circular solutions and everyday life.

The Finland Pavilion is a joint initiative of Miltton, Climate Leadership Coalition (CLC), Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK), Technology Industries of Finland, Finland Chamber of Commerce, and UN Global Compact Network Finland. The Pavilion is being developed in close collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment.

Greeting from the Minister of Climate and the Environment

Sari MultalaMinister of Climate and the Environment of Finland

As we gather in Türkiye for COP31, international climate action continues to face strong headwinds. Geopolitical tensions and shifting political priorities have challenged global cooperation. At the same time, the impacts of climate change are becoming increasingly visible in our everyday lives, from extreme heat to more frequent weather-related disruptions.

In Finland, we are known for staying calm and focused even in demanding circumstances. That mindset is the one we bring with us to COP31.

Our climate policies are grounded in cooperation, science, and practical solutions. We know that ambitious climate action, economic growth, and human wellbeing go hand in hand. Our businesses, industries, cities, and many other sectors and stakeholders are committed to reducing emissions and building a competitive, low-carbon future. Clear goals and predictable climate policies create the confidence needed for long-term investments and innovation.

For a small country like Finland, in addition to mitigation action at home, an effective way to contribute globally is by taking our climate solutions to the world. Finnish exports help reduce emissions far beyond our borders, creating a positive carbon handprint through clean technologies, sustainable industrial solutions and expertise. I am proud to see Finnish companies actively supporting ambitious climate action and bringing practical solutions to global markets.

This year, electrification is high on the COP31 action agenda, alongside themes such as circular economy and waste management. These are areas where Finland has much to offer. At the Finland Pavillion, we will showcase how close cooperation between businesses, researchers and the public sector turns ideas into real-world solutions that can be scaled internationally.

I warmly invite everyone at COP31 to join us at the Finland Pavillion. Let us exchange ideas, build partnerships and accelerate the transition to a fossil-free, more resilient future together.
